PMD forecasts severe nationwide heatwave through June 21

Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast that the current severe heatwave will continue through June 21. Across Islamabad and the rest of the country, daytime temperatures are expected to remain critically high, placing vulnerable populations at risk.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the plains of Punjab, scorching daytime conditions will prevail, while upper and central districts of Sindh, as well as southern and eastern areas of Balochistan, will also endure relentless heat throughout the day. Authorities have urged citizens to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities during peak hours, and heed heat‑stroke warnings.

Hospitals have been advised to prepare for an influx of patients suffering from heat‑related illnesses, and relief agencies are mobilizing to distribute water and cooling supplies in the hardest‑hit regions. Schools in some districts are considering abbreviated hours to protect students from extreme temperatures.
