Sky-high prices leave seats empty for India–Pakistan Asia Cup clash in Dubai

The stage is set for one of cricket’s fiercest rivalries as India and Pakistan prepare to lock horns on September 14 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the 2025 Asia Cup. But in a surprising twist, tickets for the marquee clash remain unsold — a rare occurrence for a fixture that usually sells out within hours.

This high-voltage match will mark the first meeting between the two sides since the Pahalgam terrorist attack earlier this year, which further strained relations between the neighbours. Yet despite the hype, many seats remain available, leaving fans puzzled.

Traditionally, demand for India–Pakistan matches is so overwhelming that organisers struggle with crowd control. But this time, fans have been priced out due to exorbitant ticket rates and bundled sales packages.

On official portals such as Viagogo and Platinumlist, most tickets are tied with premium hospitality options, making them unaffordable for ordinary cricket lovers. Converted into Pakistani rupees, the rates are staggering:

VIP Suites East: PKR 856,000 for two seats — includes aisle seating, unlimited food and drinks, lounge access, private entry, and dedicated restrooms.

Royal Box: PKR 766,000 for two.

Sky Box East: PKR 557,000 for two.

Platinum: PKR 251,000 for two.

Grand Lounge: PKR 136,000 for two.

General East (cheapest option): PKR 33,000 for two.

Even the so-called “budget” category remains out of reach for many long-time supporters, leading to frustration across social media.

India will begin their Asia Cup campaign against hosts UAE on September 10, while Pakistan take on Oman on September 12 at the same venue. The September 14 showdown is expected to be decisive in group standings, with both sides eager to build momentum ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.
