Supreme Court to hear petitions against 26th Amendment

The Supreme Court has fixed for October 7 the hearing of petitions filed against the 26th Constitutional Amendment.

An eight-member larger bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, will hear the case at 11:30 am.

The bench also includes Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar, Justice Ayesha Malik, Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Musarat Hilali, Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shahid Bilal.

On October 20, 2024, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar introduced the long-awaited 26th Constitutional Amendment Bill 2024 in the Senate.

The legislation carries several major reforms aimed at reshaping governance and strengthening Pakistan’s legal framework.
