Anti-defamation drive: Saba sticks to her guns

Saba Qamar has doubled down on her stance against defamatory journalism as she continues her legal battle with a journalist who made controversial remarks about her and other actresses.

The 41-year-old actress is not only defending herself but also using the moment to highlight a pattern of disrespectful commentary in the media.

Saba criticised the journalist for making derogatory remarks, calling these a persistent invasion of celebrities’ personal lives for views and attention.

She urged others in the entertainment industry to break their silence, stressing that it’s time to “take a stand against such behavior” and foster unity and accountability within showbiz circles.

The dispute began when a journalist claimed in a podcast that Saba Qamar had lived in a house in Walton, Lahore, allegedly provided by a man she was romantically involved with at the time.

In response, Saba filed a defamation lawsuit demanding a public apology, removal of the video, and Rs100 million in damages.

She warned that legal action would proceed if her demands were not met within seven days.

The actress’s bold move has earned her widespread support from fellow artists.

Ayesha Omar added, “@sabaqamarzaman so proud of you for setting a precedence. More power to you, my love.”

Rasikh Ismail Khan lauded her courage, saying, “As a father of two daughters, having a role model like you for all our betis — one with courage, clarity, resolve, and strength to stand for what’s right — is a God gift.”
