Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has urged the government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to think about the country first and it would have to follow every decision of the federal government, no matter what.
Addressing media men at Qazzafi Stadium, Lahore, on Monday, Mohsin Naqvi said Afghan nationals are being given protection in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Afghan nationals were responsible for the terrorist attacks in Islamabad, Peshawar and Wana,” he added.
The Interior Minister said Pakistan cannot afford further bombings as the country works to maintain stability and economic progress.
He criticised the protection of illegal Afghan nationals in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and announced that from next week, station house officers (SHOs) would be assigned to identify and locate Afghan nationals.
He said KP must cooperate fully with Islamabad, claiming that Afghan nationals had been involved in several recent attacks, including the assault on the Frontier Corps headquarters.
Mohsin Naqvi emphasised that national security falls exclusively under federal jurisdiction and that no province can formulate an independent policy on national security.
The minister said that by April 2025, Pakistan had repatriated 1.1 million Afghans, warning that any deported individual who attempted to return would be arrested.
He urged all undocumented Afghan nationals to leave “with dignity” before enforcement measures intensified.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said nearly 50 passengers are offloaded daily during verification procedures at the airports.
Mohsin Naqvi accused agent networks of spreading negative propaganda and vowed legal action against those extorting money from people in the name of securing visas, saying the government would recover the money.
He also announced a broad crackdown against the spread of misinformation on social media, warning that those circulating false news would face strict action.
The interior minister acknowledged wrongdoing within the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) as well, saying that some officials were involved in illegal activities and action had begun against them.
He added that the government is working to improve Pakistan’s passport ranking
Dismissing the recent criticism, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said that those who are propagandising on notifications, let them do it; when one thing has been done in the law, it stands.
