Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said on Saturday that the PTI had made it a habit to call its opponents names.
Speaking to media men in Sialkot, he said that the DG ISPR was very careful while addressing a press conference on Friday.
He said it was quite unfortunate that the PTI’s social media accounts targeted the state institutions and had no regard for the martyrs of Pakistan Army.
The minister said that the party’s leadership, whether inside the country or outside the country, used the same toxic language against the establishment.
He slammed the PTI leaders for not attending funeral prayers for the martyrs of the army. “Stop supporting the Taliban,” Asif said, and also condemned former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan for not siding with the army during the country’s military confrontation with India in May.
“Nobody bars you from doing politics,” the minister said, adding but this did not imply that you adopt the narrative of the country’s enemies.
Because, he went on to say, no patriotic Pakistani could speak against the country and its institutions while sitting in a television programme.
Asif said that the PTI did not stop using derogatory language against its opponents even when it was in power.
