Pakistan looks to revive agriculture with China’s support

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan plans to strengthen its agriculture sector with the help of China. He explained that around 65 per cent of the country’s population lives in villages and rural areas and depends on farming for their basic income.

Because of this, improving agriculture is very important for economic growth and for raising the living standards of people in villages.

The prime minister said Pakistan is moving steadily towards growth and economic recovery . He added that Chinese support in modern farming techniques, new technology, and better planning can help increase agricultural production and improve the earnings of farmers.
Prime Minister Shehbaz also expressed hope that Chinese President Xi Jinping would visit Pakistan soon.

He said such a visit would further strengthen the strong friendship between these two countries. He highlighted that the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, known as CPEC 2.0, will open a new chapter of cooperation. This phase will focus on important sectors such as agriculture, artificial intelligence, information technology, mines and minerals, and youth development.
Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong said China is determined to expand agricultural trade with Pakistan.

He stated that both countries aim to increase this trade to one billion dollars. He said, this would help Pakistan earn more through exports and achieve a trade surplus in agriculture.
The ambassador also praised Pakistan’s recent economic performance. He said the country’s economy grew by more than 3 per cent last year and showed a growth rate of 3.7 per cent in the first quarter of the current year. He described these figures as encouraging signs that Pakistan’s economy is improving.
Both sides agreed that stronger cooperation between Pakistan and China will help boost trade, create jobs, support farmers, and lead the country towards sustainable economic growth.
