Social media influencer Adnan Zafar, popularly known as Ken Doll, has issued a public apology following strong criticism over comments he made about Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz. The remarks were shared in a video earlier this week and quickly sparked debate online.
Ken Doll removed all previous videos from his Instagram account before posting an apology message. He has more than 3.5 million followers on the platform. In his statement, he admitted that his words generated mixed reactions and that his response to criticism was inappropriate.
He said that every opinion has positive and negative sides. He acknowledged that while some people appreciated his comments, others felt hurt or offended. He added that he realised his remarks triggered unnecessary backlash.
Addressing the criticism, Ken Doll said his reaction was not the right one. He stressed that he wanted to be transparent and did not wish to hide anything from the public. He said all messages and comments were visible and open for everyone to see.
“I want to apologise for my words that hurt people,” he said. He added that he was genuinely sorry for his behaviour. He asked for forgiveness, describing himself as a younger brother or friend who made a mistake.
The controversy emerged during widespread social media attention surrounding the wedding of Maryam Nawaz’s son, Junaid Safdar, to Shanzeh Ali Rohail. The wedding became one of the most discussed events of the season across social platforms.
As with many high-profile weddings, online discussions quickly shifted towards fashion. The bride received attention for wearing outfits by Indian designers. Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb was praised for her appearance. Maryam Nawaz’s outfits, however, drew mixed reactions from social media users.
Ken Doll’s controversial video was shared during this period. The clip was posted in collaboration with an official political party’s social media page. In the video, he linked fashion sense with regional development, a comparison that confused many viewers.
Critics called the remarks tone-deaf and inappropriate. The backlash grew rapidly, prompting the influencer to delete the video. He later removed all content from his account and issued a formal apology.
