Iran has added 1,000 new combat drones to its army, a move aimed at boosting the country’s military strength and readiness for future threats.
Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that the decision was made on the orders of Army Commander Major General Amir Hatami. Officials said the addition of these drones will improve the operational abilities of Iran’s ground forces.
The drones were developed by Iranian military specialists working alongside the Ministry of Defense. Their design is based on recent security challenges and lessons learned from the 12-day conflict in June 2025.
These unmanned aircraft can be used for attack missions, surveillance, and electronic warfare. They are capable of striking both moving and fixed targets on land, at sea, and in the air, making them a versatile addition to Iran’s military capabilities.
After approving their induction, Major General Hatami said that maintaining and strengthening strategic superiority remains a top priority for the army. He added that the main goal is to ensure quick war preparedness and to deliver a strong and effective response in case of any aggression.
Moreover, Pakistan has voiced concern over the escalating situation in the Middle East, following renewed US threats of military action against Iran. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Thursday to discuss the evolving crisis.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy are the only sustainable solutions to prevent conflict. Both officials agreed to maintain close coordination as events unfold.
The diplomatic engagement comes amid heightened US military movements in the Gulf region. Multiple warships are reportedly being deployed, while US President Donald Trump has warned Tehran of “severe consequences” if negotiations are not resumed.
Iran, in response, has rejected the threats and placed its forces on high alert, warning that any aggression could destabilize the region, particularly vital maritime routes.
Pakistan has repeatedly called for restraint from all parties. Officials in Islamabad stressed that military escalation would have serious repercussions for regional and global stability. Pakistan continues to advocate diplomacy over coercion, urging peaceful resolution of differences.
