Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has personally intervened after a serious complaint was reported at a NADRA center in Karachi. A citizen stated that a death certificate had been issued for his living wife, raising questions about the efficiency and accuracy of NADRA’s services.
The Interior Minister conducted an unannounced inspection of the 24-hour Open NADRA Center in Defence, Karachi. During the visit, he interacted with citizens who had come to obtain identity cards and other official documents.
Many citizens raised concerns over delays in service and long waiting times. They complained that they were waiting for hours to get their turn. The Minister listened carefully to the grievances. He assured citizens that all issues would be resolved promptly.
Officials were directly instructed to take immediate action on pending complaints. Mohsin Naqvi emphasized that the NADRA system is being upgraded, and that delays would be addressed on a permanent basis.
During the inspection, one citizen reported that his living wife had been incorrectly declared dead in the NADRA system. Taking immediate notice, the Minister ordered the authorities to correct the death certificate on the spot.
In another case, a woman complained about her name being wrongly entered on her CNIC. Mohsin Naqvi instructed the in-charge of the center to correct the name immediately without charging any additional fee.
The Interior Minister also visited multiple service counters and met the staff personally. He directed that all citizens’ documents be processed efficiently. He stressed that people should not have to make multiple visits to get their work done.
The Minister said that NADRA’s mission is to provide accurate, timely, and citizen-friendly services. He added that the government is committed to streamlining processes and ensuring transparency.
