Renowned political and security analyst Muhannad Saloom has claimed that a significant number of Indian nationals in Iraq are allegedly engaged in espionage activities on behalf of Israel. According to media reports, Saloom, who serves as an assistant professor in the Security Studies Program at Doha University and is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Strategic Studies, made these remarks while speaking at a private event in Qatar.
During his address, Saloom alleged that nearly 1.5 million individuals were involved in intelligence activities linked to Israel within Iraq. He further claimed that individuals associated with sectors such as healthcare and even elements connected to the Iraqi military had been infiltrated, adding that espionage networks allegedly extend to support staff, including cleaning personnel in various institutions.
Saloom suggested that such activities were made possible because Israel was aware that Iraq considers India a friendly country, making infiltration easier. He also alleged that these actions were aimed at securing weapons-related advantages.
The analyst further claimed that Israel had made several attempts to gain strategic superiority over Pakistan but did not succeed, according to his remarks. These claims have not been independently verified, and no official responses from concerned governments were immediately available.
