Referring to a sit-in, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) plans to stage in Karachi on February 14, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said on Monday that such insignificant sit-ins could not harm the provincial government.
He said that the Sindh government, which was being branded as an occupier, had been elected by the people of the province. “The government will not allow the JI workers to block the Shahrah-e-Faisal and other main arteries of the city,” he said categorically.
He dared JI Emir Hafiz Naeemur Rehman to first win the election.
CM Murad informed that TORs had been sent to the Sindh High Court (SHC) for the constitution of a judicial commission on Gul Plaza inferno. “We will wait for the judicial inquiry,” he added.
He accused political opponents of politicizing the tragedy.
The chief minister said that cheques of Rs10 million each had been sent to the families of 26 victims each.
