Lazawal Ishq, Pakistan’s first dating reality show, recently concluded on YouTube to a lukewarm response. Hosted by actress Ayesha Omar and filmed in a Turkish villa, the show featured male and female contestants living together, forming relationships, and participating in various activities.
Despite its experimental concept, the show faced widespread criticism in Pakistan. Viewers expressed disapproval of its format, and the program recorded below-average views on the platform.
Actor Nabeel Zafar, known for his work in the comedy series Bulbulay alongside Ayesha Omar, recently shared his opinion on such reality shows. Speaking to Ahmed Goreja, Zafar said, “Shows like this do not resonate with Pakistani audiences. Programs modeled on foreign formats may appeal elsewhere, but they often fail here because they don’t align with our culture and values.”
He added that while the show was an experimental venture, the audience rejection was predictable. “It was a Turkish production with a concept suited for Turkish viewers. Our audience did not accept it, and that’s why it struggled,” Zafar explained.
Earlier,The Pakistani reality show Lazawal Ishq has been removed from YouTube for viewers in Pakistan. The show is inspired by the British reality series Love Island. So far, 50 episodes of the program have been released.
A message shared on the show’s official Instagram page said the program is no longer accessible in Pakistan. According to the statement, the restriction has been imposed due to political reasons.
The show’s management explained that Pakistani audiences cannot watch the program on YouTube. However, viewers in several other countries can still access the show using a Virtual Private Network (VPN). These countries include Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Germany.
