Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly received threats demanding Rs100 million in extortion, with Indian media linking the case to the gang of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
According to reports, the threat was allegedly issued by Harry Boxer, described as an important member of the Bishnoi gang. A voice note was sent to the actor’s manager through WhatsApp from a US-based phone number, prompting authorities to investigate the matter.
The crime branch of Mumbai Police has contacted US officials to trace the origin of the number used to send the message.
Media reports suggest that the threat came shortly after a shooting incident outside the home of filmmaker Rohit Shetty, where unidentified individuals fired five gunshots. Police have since arrested suspects believed to be involved in that attack.
However, Mumbai Police said that no formal case has been registered so far specifically regarding the threat received by Ranveer Singh.
In a related development, Indian media reported that three men arrested for the firing outside Rohit Shetty’s residence, identified as Deepak Sharma, Sonu Kumar and Sunny Kumar, were allegedly promised Rs300,000 by the Bishnoi gang. Out of this amount, Rs50,000 was reportedly paid in advance.
