WhatsApp introduces new Group Message History feature

WhatsApp has launched a new feature called “Group Message History” to improve group chat experiences.

This feature allows group admins and members to send recent messages to new participants, helping them catch up quickly without interruptions.

One of the most requested updates, the feature ensures that new members can access the most relevant and recent context, avoiding the need for screenshots or unnecessary message forwarding. The feature also remains end-to-end encrypted, maintaining the privacy and security of all communications.

When a new member is added to a group, admins will have the option to send recent messages, ranging from 25 to 100, depending on the group’s activity. This ensures that only the most pertinent messages are shared, helping new members get up to speed.

The option to send message history is optional, and admins can choose to disable the feature for their groups.

When message history is shared, all group members are notified, with clear timestamps and sender details, making it easy to distinguish between regular and shared messages.

WhatsApp has started rolling out the Group Message History feature gradually and aims to continue enhancing its group chat functionalities while keeping conversations private and seamless.
