Pakistan strikes Afghan terror targets, 80+ militants killed

Pakistan carried out targeted airstrikes in Afghanistan on terrorist hideouts, reportedly killing more than 80 militants involved in attacks on Pakistani soil. Following the operation, Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry, addressed the media and emphasized that national security is “non-negotiable.”

Chaudhry said Pakistan has always preferred dialogue and peaceful coexistence with neighboring countries. However, he stressed that Afghan territory should not be used to launch attacks against Pakistan. He warned that the country will act decisively to protect its citizens.

He urged the Afghan government to prevent cross-border militancy. “Lasting peace in the region requires dismantling terrorist sanctuaries,” he added. The parliamentary secretary said the strikes were carefully planned and targeted only those responsible for recent attacks, ensuring minimal risk to civilians.

According to Chaudhry, Afghanistan has become a base for multiple terrorist organizations. A United Nations report indicates that 21 militant groups are operating from Afghan soil, posing a threat to regional stability.

Chaudhry also accused India of supporting these terrorist networks. He claimed that India funds, trains, and equips militants to carry out attacks against Pakistan. He said such elements must face no concessions and that Pakistan will respond firmly to any threat.

The recent airstrikes came after a series of suicide attacks in Islamabad, Bajaur, and Bannu. These attacks claimed the lives of security personnel and civilians. Security authorities described the operation as proportionate and intelligence-based, targeting only those responsible for the violence

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi also expressed support for the operation. In a statement on X, he said Pakistan will not allow its soil to be destabilized by forces operating from Afghanistan. He praised the resilience of the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and reaffirmed their support for the armed forces.

Kundi highlighted the sacrifices of martyrs and said the nation is united in the fight against terrorism. “Our sovereignty is non-negotiable,” he wrote, “and the people stand shoulder to shoulder with the state to defend it at all costs.”
