LEAs launch major crackdown on illegal Afghan residents across Islamabad, Rawalpindi and nearby districts

Security forces launched a wide-ranging search and combing operation across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree to crack down on illegal Afghan residents.

In Islamabad, joint teams carried out targeted raids in G-9, Peshawar Mor and nearby areas. Officials inspected 317 houses, 93 shops, 27 hotels and guest houses, along with 59 vehicles and 39 motorcycles. The operation led to the arrest of seven suspects and four Afghan nationals living in the country illegally.
In Rawalpindi, authorities conducted searches in several localities, including Pir Wadhai, Awan Town and Misrial Road. Teams checked 235 houses, verified 63 individuals, and examined 25 vehicles and 42 motorcycles. Law enforcement detained multiple illegal Afghan nationals and individuals found with fake identity documents. Police also arrested 19 people from different station jurisdictions during the crackdown.
Security personnel extended operations to Jhelum and Chakwal, where they searched houses and informal settlements. Officials arrested several individuals for sheltering illegal foreign nationals and for breaching tenancy regulations. In Jhelum, police also apprehended an absconding suspect and recovered an illegal rifle.

In Murree, police and intelligence agencies jointly inspected 50 houses, checked 95 vehicles, and questioned 20 individuals as part of the coordinated effort.
The operation involved Rangers, Elite Force, CTD, Dolphin Squad and intelligence agencies. Authorities deployed 368 personnel under a unified operational plan. During the searches, teams carried out strict verification of residential records and tenancy agreements, while also seizing illegal weapons and narcotics.

Security officials said they will continue operations against illegal foreign nationals until all areas are cleared of unlawful residents.
