KP threatens court move over fair share dispute

The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has warned that it may take legal action over its share in the National Finance Commission (NFC). Officials say the province is not getting its fair share of funds and this issue needs to be resolved quickly.

Leaders from KP argue that after the merger of former tribal areas, the province’s population and responsibilities increased, but its financial share was not updated. Because of this, they believe they are facing financial pressure and are unable to meet development needs.

During recent discussions, KP representatives showed strong concerns and even walked out of meetings when their demands were not accepted. Other provinces did not agree to include the merged districts in the new formula, which created tension.

The provincial government claims that funds meant for these areas are not being distributed fairly. They say this is affecting development projects and basic services in the region.

Now, KP has warned that if the issue is not solved through talks, it may approach the Federal Constitutional Court to seek justice. This shows how serious the matter has become.

At the same time, KP says it is still open to dialogue and wants a peaceful solution. It has suggested temporary financial support until a final agreement is reached.
