Four-wicket hauls from Momina Riasat and Saima Malik led Invincibles to an eight-wicket win over Stars in the seventh fixture of the National Women’s T20 Tournament at Bagh-e-Jinnah, Lahore, on Thursday. In the eighth fixture, Conquerors led by an unbeaten half-century by captain Fatima Sana defeated Strikers by 18 runs at the Ghani Glass Cricket Ground.
Conquerors posted 177 for nine in their allotted 20 overs after opting to bat first. Fatima, who walked in at number seven with her side in trouble at 80 for five in 8.4 overs, anchored the innings brilliantly.
Right-handed batter stitched a 43-run partnership for the sixth wicket with Gull Rukh (19, 11b, 1×4). Following Gull Rukh’s dismissal, Fatima continued her aggressive approach and added 38 runs for the seventh wicket with Anosha Nasir (10, 10b, 1×4).
Fatima registered her second consecutive half-century of the tournament, remaining unbeaten on 67 off 36 balls, hitting five fours and five sixes.
For Strikers, Rabia Rani claimed four wickets, while off-spinner Umm-e-Hani picked up two for 31.
In turn, despite a valiant half-century from Aliya Riaz, Strikers were restricted to 159 for nine in 20 overs. Aliya scored 52 off 29 balls, including two fours and four sixes.
Left-arm spinner Anosha Nasir was the pick of the bowlers for Conquerors, taking three wickets for 19 runs.
In the second match of the day, Stars after being put in to bat were dismissed for 64 in 13.4 overs. Momina and Saima starred with the ball for Invincibles, taking four wickets each.
Chasing a modest target, Invincibles reached the total in just 7.2 overs, losing two wickets. Iram Javed remained unbeaten on 30, while Maham Anees contributed an unbeaten 23.
On Friday, Invincibles will take on Conquerors at Bagh-e-Jinnah, while Strikers will face Challengers at the Ghani Glass Cricket Ground. Both matches will begin at 10am.
