Iranian FM praises Pakistan, backs talks in Islamabad

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has expressed gratitude toward Pakistan for its diplomatic efforts and clarified that Iran has never refused engagement or dialogue in Islamabad.

In a post shared on social media platform X, the Iranian foreign minister stated that Iran’s stance is being misrepresented by certain international media outlets, particularly in the United States. He emphasized that Iran remains open to discussions, provided that any negotiations aim toward a clear, lasting, and conclusive end to what he described as an imposed conflict.

He further underlined that Pakistan has played a constructive role in facilitating diplomatic outreach, and acknowledged its efforts in promoting regional dialogue and stability. The minister also concluded his message with a note of appreciation for Pakistan.

The statement comes amid ongoing tensions in the region, where diplomatic initiatives and mediation efforts are being discussed by multiple stakeholders seeking to de-escalate the situation. Iran’s clarification appears to address recent reports suggesting reluctance on its part to participate in talks hosted in Islamabad.

Officials and observers note that mediation efforts remain a key avenue for potential conflict resolution, although no breakthrough has been confirmed so far. The evolving situation continues to draw international attention as countries monitor developments and call for restraint and dialogue.

Earlier, Iran has announced the resumption of academic activities across all universities, with authorities deciding that classes will continue in a virtual format while campuses remain closed due to the prevailing security situation.

According to Iranian media reports, educational institutions have been directed to shift to online learning, and this arrangement will remain in place until further notice. Officials stated that both universities and schools will continue operating remotely as the country remains on alert amid ongoing regional tensions.

The decision comes as a precautionary measure following a series of security developments in the country. Reports from local media indicated that multiple explosions were heard in the northern part of the Iranian capital, Tehran, triggering panic among residents and raising concerns over the situation.
