Iranian state media has reported the death of Brigadier General Majid Khademi, who headed the intelligence wing of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The announcement was made without providing detailed circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to statements attributed to the IRGC and carried by local outlets, Khademi was reportedly killed in what Iranian authorities described as a “terrorist attack by the American-Zionist enemy” in the early hours of Monday. The claim has not been independently verified.
Reports from international media indicate that Israeli sources have also suggested Khademi may have been killed in a strike, though no official confirmation has been issued. The conflicting narratives highlight ongoing tensions and information gaps surrounding the incident.
Khademi, a senior IRGC figure, had been serving in leadership roles within the organization’s intelligence structure for several years. He was appointed head of the IRGC’s intelligence division in June 2025, succeeding Mohammad Kazemi, who was previously killed in Israeli airstrikes during a broader 12-day conflict earlier that month.
His role also included overseeing intelligence protection operations within the IRGC, positions he held since 2022 and 2025 respectively. The reported death of such a high-ranking official marks a significant development amid already heightened regional tensions.
Earlier, Tensions across the Middle East have intensified after U.S. President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran, urging it to reopen the Strait of Hormuz without delay. He warned that failure to do so could result in severe military consequences, while also indicating that diplomatic negotiations remain an option.
The warning comes amid an ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, which has now stretched beyond five weeks. During this period, U.S. and Israeli forces have conducted sustained strikes, targeting what they describe as Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, missile capabilities, and regional influence networks.
