PSB to field cricket team in PCB grade-II tournament for first time

The Sports Board Punjab (SBP) has decided to field a cricket team in the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Grade-II domestic tournament for the first time, it was reported on Tuesday.

The move would mark the first appearance of an SBP cricket team in any PCB domestic tournament.

SBP officials said the trials to make a strong team are underway across the province ahead of the event to be held in May.

Trials for the Lahore leg will be held on April 11 and 12 at the cricket academy at Nishtar Park Sports Complex after the original April 8-9 dates were changed due to rain.

Eligible players include current regional Under-19 cricketers, Pakistan Shaheens, domestic first-class cricketers, and internationals, broadening the pool for what officials hope will be a competitive debut side.

Former Pakistan Test cricketer Aizaz Cheema and Sports Board Punjab Cricket Academy head coach Muhammad Usman Ali are part of the selection committee.
