The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported significant loss of life and property damage across the country due to heavy rains between March 19 and April 8, 2026.
According to the report, at least 96 people lost their lives while 192 others were injured in rain-related incidents nationwide. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of casualties, with 48 deaths and 126 injured.
In Sindh, 20 people were killed and 31 sustained injuries. Punjab reported 6 deaths and 17 injuries, while Balochistan recorded 18 fatalities and 17 injured. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 4 people died and one was injured. No casualties were reported in Gilgit-Baltistan or Islamabad.
The report also highlighted extensive damage to livestock and infrastructure. A total of 182 cattle perished, while 1,097 houses were affected across the country—181 completely destroyed and 916 partially damaged.
Region-wise, 797 houses were damaged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 79 in Sindh, 162 in Balochistan, 4 in Punjab, and 55 in Azad Kashmir.
Additionally, heavy rains impacted public infrastructure, with five schools and nine other facilities reported damaged.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as recovery efforts remain underway in the affected regions.
