The Lahore District Weightlifting Association, in collaboration with the Walled City of Lahore Authority, will stage the Lahore District Men & Women Weightlifting Championship 2026 on April 16–17, aiming to promote the sport and showcase emerging local talent.

The two-day event will be held at the A.R.T. Weightlifting Club, located in Ali Park on Fort Road in Lahore, bringing together leading male and female athletes from across the district.

According to Sohail Javed Butt of the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, the championship is designed to provide a high-intensity platform for athletes to demonstrate their strength and skill while fostering the development of the sport at the grassroots level.

The competition will be organized under the supervision of Muhammad Azhar, a seasoned international coach serving as organizing secretary, ensuring adherence to professional and technical standards.

Organizers said the event will take place near some of Lahore’s most iconic landmarks, including the Badshahi Mosque and Lahore Fort, blending the city’s cultural heritage with modern sporting activity.

The initiative is further supported by the Agence Française de Développement, reflecting international cooperation in promoting sports and community engagement.

Entry to the championship will be free for spectators, athletes, officials, and guests, with organizers inviting the public to witness the performances of Lahore’s top weightlifters.
