Gunmen abduct four road workers in KP’s Tirah Valley

Four construction workers were abducted by armed men in the Peer Mela area of Tirah Valley in Khyber district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday.

According to local sources, the workers were engaged in road construction and land levelling work for a link road project when armed men arrived at the site and took them away at gunpoint. The abducted individuals include two excavator operators and two labourers.

Reports indicate that the workers were shifted to an unknown location soon after the abduction. Three of the kidnapped workers are said to be from Balochistan, while one belongs to the local area.

Security forces have launched a search operation in the region and surrounding localities to trace the missing workers and identify those involved in the incident.

The abduction has raised concerns among local residents and tribal elders. They have demanded stronger security measures for development projects in the area. They warned that such incidents could negatively affect ongoing construction and development work.

In a separate development, a peace jirga of the Akkakhel tribe was held in Bara tehsil of Khyber district. The meeting discussed the worsening security situation in the region.

Participants of the jirga expressed serious concern over law and order issues and called for immediate steps by authorities to ensure the protection of lives and property.
