Sindh govt fails to achieve wheat purchase target

Achieving wheat purchase target became a hard nut to crack for the Sindh government as only 10,000 metric tons of wheat was so far acquired by the provincial government against the target of 1 million, it was reported on Tuesday.

According to details, the Sindh government only purchased 10,000 metric tons of wheat during the last 20 days.

It is necessary to mention here that the Sindh government also failed to achieve the wheat purchase target of 14,00,000 tons of wheat at the rate of Rs 4,000 per mound.

The Sindh government is not providing fodder in the new season, and the purchase price is fixed at Rs3500.

The Sindh province is likely to cultivate 40,00,000 lakh metric tons of wheat as most of the wheat cultivation is completed in the majority areas of Sindh.

The Sindh food department said that the province has to achieve the wheat purchase target of 10,00,000 metric tons.

Sources said that the majority of corrupt officials are involved in this scam and recommended that they be dismissed from service immediately.

The Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah, directed the purchase of a maximum of 2,00,000 metric tons of wheat during the current months.
