The federal government on Wednesday increased levy on competitive power plants to Rs1,406 per MBTU under the Off the Grid (Captive Power Plants) Levy Act, 2025.
Earlier, the levy on these plants stood at Rs1,243 per MMBTU.
There is a plan to provide relief to consumers in their electricity bills on monthly basis from the amount collected under the head of levy in light of the decision taken by the federal cabinet.
