Pakistan bans imports of goods made through forced labour

The federal government has imposed a ban on the import of goods produced through forced labour in a major policy decision aimed at strengthening labour compliance standards, it was reported on Wednesday.

According to the Ministry of Commerce Pakistan, the ban applies to all goods that are wholly or partially produced or manufactured through forced labour.

A notification issued in this regard stated that the government will identify specific goods, institutions and countries in line with standards set by the International Labour Organization.

Under the new rules, imports from designated countries will require documentary evidence or certification to prove that the goods were not produced through forced labour.

Officials said the measure is intended to ensure ethical trade practices and compliance with international labour standards in import processes.
