Cricket fans in Pakistan may soon witness another exciting chapter in the rivalry between the national team and Australia, as a tentative schedule for the upcoming ODI series has reportedly been finalised by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
According to sources, all three One Day Internationals are expected to take place at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The proposed schedule suggests the opening match will be played on May 31, followed by the second ODI on June 2 and the final encounter on June 4.
While an official announcement from the PCB is still awaited, preparations are reportedly underway to host the series smoothly. Cricket followers are already anticipating packed crowds and a high-energy atmosphere, especially considering the strong rivalry between the two nations in limited-overs cricket.
If confirmed, this series would mark Australia’s return to Pakistan for a 50-over contest since their memorable tour in 2022. During that visit, Pakistan claimed a hard-fought 2-1 ODI series victory, creating one of the most celebrated home wins in recent years.
Historically, Australia have dominated the ODI head-to-head record, winning 71 matches compared to Pakistan’s 36 victories from 111 encounters. However, Pakistan’s recent improvements in home conditions have made them a far more competitive side.
The series could also serve as an important preparation ground for both teams ahead of future ICC tournaments. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s busy international calendar continues, with a Test series against Bangladesh also lined up as part of the International Cricket Council World Test Championship cycle.
