Abbas Araghchi said the United States must abandon its threatening language and expansionist policies toward Iran.
Speaking to foreign media, Araghchi revealed that Tehran has sent fresh proposals for ending the conflict through Pakistan. He emphasized that Pakistan is currently the only official mediator involved in the negotiations process.
The Iranian foreign minister also held telephone conversations with his counterparts from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey, Egypt, Iraq, and Azerbaijan. During the discussions, he said Iran remains committed to diplomacy and is prepared to keep dialogue channels open to prevent further escalation.
Araghchi strongly criticized the Pentagon, accusing it of spreading false information. He stated that official details regarding any future negotiations would be announced publicly once a final decision is made.
Earlier, Iran has strongly rejected Washington’s justification for its military actions, calling the US campaign against Tehran an “act of aggression” rather than self-defence, as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei criticised the US position in a statement shared on social media, questioning American claims that the attacks were carried out in collective self-defence alongside Israel.
“Self-defence against what?” Baghaei asked, arguing that Iran had not launched any armed attack that could legally justify military action against it. He described the US operation as a direct assault on Iranian sovereignty.
The remarks came as Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused Washington of misleading the public about the financial cost of the war. He claimed the conflict had already cost the United States around $100 billion and warned that ordinary American households were increasingly facing economic pressure because of rising energy prices and war-related spending.
