An Iranian military official has rejected claims that the fire at the Fujairah oil port in the United Arab Emirates was part of a planned Iranian attack, instead accusing the United States of provoking instability in the region.
According to Iranian state-linked media, the official said Tehran had no prior plan to target UAE oil facilities and alleged that the incident was linked to what he described as “US military adventurism” aimed at facilitating the movement of ships through restricted waters in the Strait of Hormuz.
The official further warned that Washington must be held responsible for escalating tensions in the strategically vital maritime region, urging an end to what he called the misuse of force in diplomatic matters.
Separately, senior Iranian lawmaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on social media that the security of global shipping routes had been undermined by ceasefire violations and blockade measures by the United States and its allies. He claimed the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz was evolving into a “new security equation.”
The Strait of Hormuz, a critical passage for global energy and commodity shipments, has seen severe disruptions in recent weeks amid escalating tensions between Iran, the United States, and Israel, leading to widespread instability in maritime trade.
Conflicting reports continue to emerge regarding naval activity in the Gulf, including claims of attacks on merchant vessels, interceptions of ships, and warnings issued by both Iranian and US forces.
Iran has repeatedly stated that the ongoing crisis has no military solution and has called for diplomatic engagement, with some discussions reportedly taking place through regional mediation channels, including Pakistan.
