Heavy firing, explosion reported near Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar

KARACHI: Heavy firing and an explosion were reported near Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Saturday, triggering an immediate response from police and other law enforcement agencies.

According to police officials, personnel from multiple law enforcement departments were dispatched to the area after reports of firing and a blast emerged near Mosmiyat Chowrangi.

The incident led authorities to secure the surrounding area, while police teams moved to assess the situation. No information regarding casualties or injuries has been confirmed so far.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of reports of an explosion and alleged firing near Mosmiyat Chowrangi and sought a detailed report from the Sindh Inspector General of Police and Karachi Additional Inspector General, according to a spokesperson.

The chief minister contacted senior police officials and directed them to ensure an immediate response, determine the nature of the incident and take necessary action.

Special units, including the Rapid Response Force and police commandos, were also sent to the location to assist in controlling the situation.

Following the incident, the road connecting Mosmiyat Chowrangi towards Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6 and Kamran Chowrangi was closed for traffic. Police also said that the route from Mosmiyat Chowrangi towards Chaman Iqbal Colony had been shut as part of security measures.

Authorities are continuing to gather information about the incident, with further details expected as investigations progress.
