FM Aurangzeb calls for fully digitalised taxation system

Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb visited the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI) to hear about key challenges being faced by the textile industry, it was reported on Friday.

FCCI President Farooq Yousaf Sheikh and other office bearers briefed FG Aurangzeb about various challenges especially, taxation, trade, and issues affecting businesses and exporters.

Addressing the business community, Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb has stressed the need for a fully digitalized taxation system to eliminate tax leakages. The Minister underlined the importance of the private sector and said it has to lead the economy to put Pakistan on a growth trajectory. He said the government is encouraging the construction sector, but the system of buying and selling files would not be allowed.

FCCI Senior Vice President Naveed Akram Sheikh and Vice President Engineer Asim Munir attended the session, along with former chamber presidents Rehan Naseem Bharara, Rizwan Ashraf, Rana Sikandar Azam, and Dr. Khurram Tariq. The meeting was also attended by PHMA Senior Vice Chairman Ahmad Afzal Awan, APTMA Chairman Naveed Gulzar, APTPMA Chairman Haji Bao Akram, former central chairman of APBUMA Arif Ehsan Malik, as well as senior officials from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Labor Department, and Customs.

The business community expressed concerned about the government’s economic policies especially taxation framework.
