The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved a law allowing lifetime blue passports to be issued to members of the provincial assembly and their spouses, it was reported on Tuesday.
The legislation was approved by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led provincial government, which holds a majority in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
Under the existing system, blue passports are issued to government officials, parliamentarians, ministers, judges and their eligible family members for a period of five years.
With the approval of the new law, eligible members of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and their spouses will be entitled to lifetime blue passports instead of renewing them every five years.
