CM Maryam unveils two schemes for safe homes in Punjab

After Kahna’s tragic incident, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz introduced two schemes ‘Apna Ghar Mehfooz Ghar” for which Rs5,00,000 loan will be provided for renovation and maintenance of damaged and poor-conditioned houses, it was reported on Wednesday.

She was presiding over a special meeting of “Apni Chat Apna Ghar” and “Apni Zameen Apna Ghar” in Lahore.

During the meeting, a documentary was presented to the Chief Minister about the outstanding performance of the “Punjab Pakistan Pavilion” in Baku.

Under the “Apni Chat Apna Ghar” programme, interest-free loans were given to 1,80,000 homeless people, and loans were also provided to 1,70,000 families under the Apni Chat Apna Ghar” programme.

Punjab government also sanctioned an amount of Rs217.8 billion for the “Apni Chat Apna Ghar” programme  Construction of 1,34,343 homes were completed under the Apni Chat Apna Ghar programme.

More than 12,78,000 homeless people submitted their applications for the Apni Chat and Apna Ghar programme.

During the meeting the chief minister directed the release of the amount to the affectees during the three days.

Construction of the additional story on the home is also approved with an amount of Rs1 million.

The Chief Minister told during the meeting that 2,000 free plots were distributed among the deserving families in 23 districts of Punjab.

Maryam Nawaz said that a loan will also be provided to the families for the construction of their own house.

No burden should be placed on the poor, nor should there be any changes to the regulations regarding loan acquisition.
