Four people were killed and nine others injured after a land dispute turned into a deadly armed clash in the Neki Khel area of Landi Kotal tehsil in Khyber district on Saturday. According to police, tension between the two rival groups had persisted for long times over ownership of a piece of land.
The confrontation erupted when members of one group began cutting down trees on the contested property which was resisted by the opposing side.
The exchange of words quickly escalated into an armed confrontation. As a result, four people were killed on the spot, while nine others sustained injuries.
Rescue teams and local residents shifted the injured to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Landi Kotal. After receiving initial medical treatment, some injured having critical condition were referred to hospitals in Peshawar for further care.
A large force of police rushed to the scene, blocked off and began collecting evidence. Police said an investigation were underway from multiple angles, and efforts have been launched to arrest those involved in the clash.
