Polio transit points active in Punjab districts to stop virus respread

Polio transit points are functional in nine districts of Punjab with mission to stop re-spread of the virus, it was reported on Thursday.

Polio transit points are active in Lahore, Attock, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Mianwali, Rawalpindi, Rahim Yar Khan, Chakwal and Multan.

Polio teams are on duty at 15 locations in nine districts.

As many as 612,000 children have been vaccinated at these locations during the past 6 months.

More than 100,000 children have been vaccinated against polio in June.

Polio high transmission season will continue till September.

According to National Emergency Operation Center, summer holidays cause movement and there is a fear of polio re-entry due to migrant settlements in Punjab.

Stopping the transmission of polio virus from other provinces is an important target.

Parents are requested to fully cooperate with teams at polio transit points.
