National Electricity and Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) forwarded a draft to Lahore Electricity Supply Company (Lesco) and other power distribution companies, asking them to submit proposals to impose pole rent on electricity poles, it was reported on Wednesday.
All the cable companies will have to obtain a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for laying additional cables on electricity poles.
Draft prepared to standardize the installation of internet, telecom, and cable TV cables on poles.
The draft further stated that a joint site survey will be conducted by LESCO and companies before issuing the NoC.
Nepra said that it will be mandatory to maintain 3 feet from the LT line and 4 feet from the 11 kV line. It will be prohibited to lay cables on the transformer platform, cross arm, jumper, or earthing lead. Lesco will be authorized to cancel NOC and blacklist companies for violation
Nepra will issue a notification after completing necessary consultations with the power distribution companies.
