Federal Minister for Railways Mohammad Hanif Abbasi, during his two-day official visit, held an important meeting with the high officials of the Turk Contractors Association and discussed various joint projects with them, it was reported on Friday.
During the meeting, the Federal Minister reviewed the Turkish experts’ experience and advanced systems in train operations, traffic management, modern signalling, Centralized Traffic Control (CTC) and digital railway systems.
In the context of the modernization of ML-1 and ML-3, the establishment of an advanced centralized traffic management system was also discussed, with a focus on making train operations safer, more efficient and technologically advanced.
Hanif Abbasi expressed keen interest in benefiting from the expertise and experience of Turkish specialists in railway safety, emergency response and efficient train operations.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthening the long-standing brotherly relations between Pakistan and Türkiye through modern technology, technical cooperation and exchange of expertise in the railway sector.
Hanif Abbasi also reviewed the possibilities of cooperation in infrastructure and logistics for the revival of the Islamabad, Tehran, Istanbul freight corridor, and revival of the ITI freight corridor could inject new momentum into trade and economic connectivity in the region.
In the meeting, prospects for the involvement of Turkish companies in the Uzbekistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan railway corridor are also under discussion.
Discussions are underway regarding opportunities for Turkish investment in Pakistan Railways’ stations, freight terminals, and logistics parks.
Discussed strengthening Pakistan Railways’ manufacturing and engineering capabilities with Turkish technology and experience.
Hanif Abbasi also reviewed possibilities of utilizing Turkish technology in local manufacturing of passenger coaches, freight wagons, and railway equipment.
