The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court on Friday set aside the registrar’s objections to a petition seeking the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan to a hospital, allowing the appeal to proceed to a formal hearing.
Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi heard the chamber appeal challenging the registrar’s objections and accepted the appeal. The decision cleared the way for the petition to be formally registered before the court.
During the in-chambers hearing, the Chief Justice ordered that the PTI founder’s appeal be linked with the pending case of Uzma Khan. He also directed the registrar to assign a case number to the hospital transfer appeal.
Chief Justice Afridi further accepted a request for the early scheduling of both the PTI founder’s petition and the Uzma Khan case so that they could be heard without unnecessary delay.
The PTI founder’s counsel, Uzair Karamat Bhandari, appeared before the chief justice during the proceedings. The court instructed the lawyer to submit a duly signed power of attorney to complete the required legal formalities.
