A dispute over the approval of the summary for the appointment of new High Court judges has intensified after a petition was filed in the Islamabad High Court, it was reported on Wednesday.
According to the report, the petitioner has asked the court to direct the President, through his secretary and the Ministry of Law, to approve the summary relating to the judicial appointments.
According to the petition, the Judicial Commission of Pakistan recommended the appointment of judges to various high courts during its meetings held on 20 and 21 July.
The filing states that the commission completed the selection process and forwarded its recommendations for further approval.
The petition says that the Judicial Commission recommended the appointment of 19 judges to different high courts. It argues that the approval process should now move forward without further delay.
The case was filed by Advocate Luqman Zafar through his counsel, Advocate Zahid Asif Chaudhry.
