Pakistan and Iran have signed the agreed minutes at the conclusion of the 10th meeting of the Pakistan-Iran Joint Trade Committee, reaffirming their commitment to increase bilateral trade to 10 billion US dollars.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the three-day meeting ended with both countries agreeing to accelerate practical measures aimed at strengthening trade, investment and wider economic cooperation.
The two sides agreed to move swiftly towards finalising the Pakistan-Iran Free Trade Agreement. Officials also reported significant progress on the agreement’s rules of origin and the mechanism for reducing tariffs, marking an important step in advancing negotiations between the two countries.
During the talks, Pakistan and Iran agreed to strengthen business-to-business relations by encouraging direct links between their business communities and increasing the exchange of trade delegations.
They also agreed to expand and improve the barter trade system to support commercial activity across the shared border.
Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to promoting border trade and creating greater economic opportunities for local communities.
They agreed to speed up the opening of the Cheedigi-Kohak border market and decided to establish joint committees to ensure the effective management of shared border markets.
The meeting also produced an agreement to take further steps to increase bilateral trade in agricultural and horticultural products.
In addition, both sides agreed to improve transport, logistics and cross-border connectivity to facilitate smoother trade flows.
Officials said the technical committees would continue their work to ensure the immediate implementation of the decisions reached during the three days of negotiations, reflecting the shared determination of both countries to deepen their economic partnership.
