The Punjab government finalised Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the celebration of the Basant Festival in 2027 and allocated the Jallo Park area for the manufacture of kite string in Lahore, it was reported on Wednesday.
All kite-string manufacturers will be bound to implement these SOPs, and strict measures will be adopted to control prices of kites and strings. The manufacturing of kite string will start in October 2027.
Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a three-day Basant festival, which will be held in Lahore from March 12 to 14, 2027, after a “successful” return last year.
In an X post, CM Maryam said Lahore will once again come alive with colour, culture, festivity, music, energy and legendary hospitality.
Addressing the youth across Punjab and Pakistan, Maryam said: “This celebration is for you; come together, create memories, and make Lahore shine with your energy and spirit!”
