The Afghanistan Freedom Front has claimed that it carried out 21 operations against the Taliban across several Afghan provinces over a one-month period.
According to details shared on the group’s official X account, the operations took place between July 23 and August 22. Badakhshan was described as the main area of activity, with several clashes reported around Zebak and Faizabad.
The group said its fighters targeted Taliban security positions in Badakhshan as well as Baghlan, Nangarhar, Faryab, Nuristan and Panjshir.
The claimed attacks targeted Taliban convoys, security posts, military equipment, drones and defence positions. The group also claimed that military airfields in Kabul and Kunduz were targeted with missiles and rockets.
The Afghanistan Freedom Front said its fighters forced Taliban forces to withdraw from several positions and captured some important defensive locations.
It also claimed that a number of Taliban personnel were killed or wounded during the attacks. These claims have not been independently verified.
Security and defence experts quoted in the report said continued attacks by armed opposition groups on Taliban military convoys, posts and defence centres could point to growing resistance against the Taliban.
They said increased activity by groups including the Afghanistan Freedom Front, the National Resistance Front and the Afghanistan United Front showed that armed opposition to Taliban rule remained active in several parts of the country.
