ISLAMABAD: Western winds have entered Pakistan, prompting the Meteorological Department to forecast rain in various parts of the country from today, with the final spell of monsoon rains expected to begin after noon.
According to the Meteorological Department, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and adjoining areas are likely to receive heavy rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms during the spell.
Rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms is also expected in Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and the upper areas of Gilgit-Baltistan. The department has forecast that rainfall will make the weather colder and cooler in the upper regions.
According to the Meteorological Department, several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may also receive heavy rainfall. These areas include Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Battagram, Peshawar, Nowshera, Abbottabad and Mansehra.
Various areas of Punjab, including Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Sialkot and Gujrat, are also expected to receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, most districts of Sindh and Balochistan are likely to experience hot weather, although the weather in coastal areas may remain partly cloudy.
The Meteorological Department has warned that the current spell of rainfall may continue until September 6. During this period, there is also a risk of landslides in upper and mountainous areas.
