The State of Palestine has signed an international charter aimed at strengthening cooperation and supporting the development of its digital economy.
Palestine’s Minister of Telecommunications and Digital Economy, Dr Abdel-Razzak Natsheh, said the move would help accelerate the country’s digital transformation through international cooperation.
He said Palestine would be able to exchange knowledge and expertise, improve digital connectivity and resilience, and create new opportunities in technology, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Palestine has a growing information and communications technology sector. According to available figures, the sector includes around 400 active businesses and employs more than 13,500 professionals. It contributes about five per cent to the country’s gross domestic product and generates more than $500 million annually.
Around 3,000 ICT graduates also enter the workforce every year.
Palestine has also introduced a new plan to improve digital infrastructure, strengthen data governance and expand digital public services.
The plan aims to train more than 10,000 people by 2028. It also seeks to support over 250 start-ups and more than 100 women-led businesses.
Officials believe these initiatives can promote innovation, create employment opportunities and help strengthen Palestine’s economy through technology and digital development.
