CM Maryam pays Rs27.19m for government plane used on London trip

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has paid Rs27,194,004 to the Punjab government for the use of the official aircraft during her recent private visit to London, according to reports.

The payment follows controversy over the use of the provincial government’s aircraft for her London trip, where she attended her daughter’s graduation ceremony. Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari had earlier said that Maryam Nawaz would personally bear the expenses of the trip.

According to reports, Rs27,194,004 has now been deposited into the government treasury against the expenses incurred for use of the aircraft.PML-N leader Hina Parvez Butt also confirmed on social media that the Punjab chief minister had paid all expenses related to the use of the government aircraft.

She said the cheque submitted by Maryam Nawaz would be cashed the following day.

The issue had earlier been raised in the Punjab Assembly, where an adjournment motion sought details of expenses allegedly incurred on the chief minister’s London visit.
