The bodies of two Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel who went missing in Bannu a day earlier have been recovered, according to local sources and Rescue 1122.
The deceased were identified as Havaldar Ishaq and Sepoy Umar Hayat, both members of Platoon No. 59. They were reportedly taken away by unidentified armed men from the Saifan Kozi Khel area of Karam Garhi on Sunday evening.
The bodies were later found in the Kamali graveyard in Palosi. Following the disappearance of the two personnel, security was tightened across the area and a search operation was launched to trace those responsible.
Authorities have started an investigation into the incident. The identities and whereabouts of the attackers were not immediately known.
The incident comes about a week after an Elite Force constable was killed within the jurisdiction of Bannu Cantonment Police Station, highlighting continued security concerns in the district.
Bannu is part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where militant violence has remained a major security challenge. According to monthly data compiled by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies, the province recorded a rise in terrorist attacks in August compared with July.
The province, excluding the merged districts, reported 54 attacks in August, compared with 36 in July. This represented a 50 per cent increase. However, deaths linked to terrorist attacks fell from 69 in July to 44 in August, while reported injuries dropped from 96 to 70.
Security agencies continue to investigate attacks in Bannu and other parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as authorities work to identify those involved in the latest incident.
