Acute shortage of the vaccine used for the treatment of seasonal influenza has developed in the country as the vaccine manufactured by multi-national and Chinese firms has almost disappeared from medical stores, it was reported on Thursday.
On the other hand, drug control officials have said that the vaccine produced by multi-national companies will be available in the market by December, although in a limited amount.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed that spurious vaccine is allegedly being sold in the market.
In this connection, drug inspectors have raided a pharmacy in Lahore from where they have recovered spurious vaccine in large quantities besides arresting two people.
They have sent recovered vaccine to a laboratory to check its genuineness.
The officials have advised people to purchase vaccines only from licence holder pharmacies.
