Pakistan will be polio free by June next year, says minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Health Services Mustafa Kamal has vowed to make Pakistan polio-free by June next year.

Mustafa Kamal was addressing a ceremony in Islamabad on Friday in connection with the launch of a sub-national anti-polio vaccination campaign.

The Minister said the campaign will run from the 2nd to the 8th of next month in 97 selected districts across the country. He highlighted that around 24 million children under the age of five will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign.

He urged parents to cooperate with polio workers and ensure that their children are vaccinated against this crippling disease.

The Federal Minister also highlighted a decline in the number of polio cases in Pakistan as a result of the government’s sustained efforts.
